A Belated Thanksgiving

Goodness it's been forever since I've posted ANYTHING!! Life's been a little crazy, but that's always my excuse is it not?

To start off, Thanksgiving was great. My family continued our tradition of camping and headed for Inks Lake on Monday. Yes, I was a terrible student and skipped school on Monday and Tuesday for camping but I needed a break ; )

 However with all this homework I'm starting to think it was not such a good idea...but more on that later.  The weather man needs to start talking with God a little more because when we went down on Monday expecting chilly weather it was like 80*! We had to run by wal-mart and get some make-shift shorts since the store was ready for winter, but God let us enjoy a lit more of summer haha. Ruthanne (my sister) joined us on Wednesday and we all went to Wimberly and Llano.  Wimberly was the most fun! There were so many cats you wouldn't believe, and their square is more of an "S." There was the cutest shop with a sign on the door that said "DO NOT let cats OUT!" So of course, once you read it you immediately had to go in because that's where the cats were : )  They were two cute, fluffy Persians with flat faces...

In another shop I got a new super cute hat! It's big and red and irresistible. When I would wear it around town everybody stared but I kept walking cause I knew it was cute. 

On Friday we headed out and that's when it turned really cold. It was nice though because it felt like winter and Christmas!  Thursday we went to Bluebonnet cafe and met my aunt and uncle there. That was great because my aunt had been doing really poorly in health and it was great to see her out-n-about. We all ate thanksgiving lunch there; I stayed true and had turkey and dressing but other members cheated and had fried chicken, chicken fried steak, breakfast, etc. can you believe that?! It was fun though and of course their famous pie...I had banana cream, mmmmmm...

Today has been wonderful, too. Stephen came to church this morning (with a little coaxing I must say) and my dad cooked Salmon, my favorite! The downside is the homework. Making up Monday and Tuesday is not as easy as it sounds. Two tests and a project were not what I wanted to come back to after a relaxing week by the lake. But I'll struggle through as I always do...a question for those out there reading, should I make time for family and friends over homework or should I stay up late into the night finishing?? This has really bothered me because it also cuts into my God time. With all the classes I am taking, I wake up, go to school, homework, and by the time I'm done it's 11o'clock and I can barely keep my eyes open to read the Bible. That's not how I want to be spending my time with God; half-dead. Any advice would be great!!

Well I guess that's all I've got to talk about.  Thanksgiving this year was one that I can really have a lot of things to thank God for truly.  My aunt is doing well, my family has been keeping close ties, my school work has not gotten the best of me (yet), and my faith in God is starting to take shape. 

For example, I started visiting one of my friend's church because it was more modern, with songs and students that I knew well, but as time went on and I looked past the glamour and into its faith I found that it left me empty.  I wasn't getting the answers I was looking for. Thus, I went back to my parent's church and have continued going for a few weeks. I don't know whether it's resistance to change or if God needs me there, but I feel that that is my home and I should not abandon it. I am thankful for God's light showing me the path I need to follow and that I don't have to worry about me making a wrong decision when I can just trust God to always make the RIGHT one.

 

Thanks again for reading this dreadfully long thing. I hope everyone had a blessed holiday and that we prepare for the celebration of Jesus' birth with the thought of thankfulness in mind : )

I was doing my daily Bible reading, while struggling with the thought of how to keep my life revolved around God in this hectic world.  I have been thinking a lot about God being in complete control of my life and how I'm holding him back from using me to my fullest because of selfish desires. My reading was in Romans 15-16.  People in my school know I am a Christian.  I do not cuss, I do not cheat, I am friendly and welcoming, but I have to think to myself am I conforming to the world and its standards of Christianity? 

"Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is evil"

This verse was like a knife to the heart. Being a Christian isn't about doing and being good, it's about having God be the center of your life and the decisions you make are based off of furthering His kingdom. This was the end of Romans and I felt it was also the end of the habit of being a Worldly Christian and not a Godly Christian.

The next step in continuing this challenge came in a homework assignment for English.  Mr.Heape is a very powerful teacher and enjoys seeing the true side of people.  His assignment was for us to look deep into ourselves and find the thing that we thought to be the most important thing to us.  He then went on to say that most people are lying to themselves.  This became the subject of our essay; what we're lying about, why we're lying and what can we do it stop lying to ourselves.  Naturally I picked Religion. Turns out I am lying to myself. What do I do on a daily basis to show anyone that God is the number one in my life?? Not much.  During the next six weeks we will be digging into the essay and finding all sorts of truths about ourselves. I;m not completely prepared, but I think God knows that and so he gave me this essay to work out what's in the way.

Woo! That was long! Just had to share that with yall, and hope it opened some doors into your personal relationship with God as well : )

Hello and good afternoon! The weather is so wonderful! I hope you have noticed and praised God for the change in seasons:

Just wanted to start off by saying how thankful I am to have friends that I can depend on to be there for me.  With out them I could never have a relationship with God or beable to keep my head on.

Anyway, school is going pretty well. I seem to be slipping more and more into average mode and making B's on papers :( so hopefully this next six weeks will spark a neurotransmitter that has been long over due for commission. In Psychology we're studying DREAMS!!!

They are so interesting, especially since I have wild ones that don't always make sense... Someday I would love to meet a person that God has blessed with the gift of interpreting dreams because I have a ton for them : ) It's crazy to see all the different theroies that people have come up with to try and explain why we have dreams. I'm still not sure myself so maybe this chapter will enlighten me!

English has been super fabulous as well. My teacher gave a great lecture on how Rhetoric is used on women in society; ads, dehumanization, etc. It was so moving and I just wanted to smack some guys's heads and say wake-up he's talking about the real world here!

And, we're about to start a project called "Project Heape-Way"

So that's pretty much my weeks in a nut shell other subjects are normal. We have had dress up days, so here's a picture from 60's day and 80's day...

One more thing. My aunt has recently gotten very sick and probably only has a few weeks left so if you could all pray for her that would be fabulous. I know when she goes she will be doing cartwheels on golden streets, but for now she needs to pass with little pain. Thank you!!

HI : )

Well it has been forever since I've written so here goes...

First school, it has been going really well and I love all my teachers.  Unfortunately my 1st period got changed around so I do not have the History teacher that I loved, but it is now filled with friends so that makes up for the loss of a teacher.  I just made a 100 on a major essay in English, and I know God was behind that.  I was so stressed but felt a strange calm that I knew was the Lord telling me everything would work out great, and it did!! The web design class is going steady too and I'm really getting to know a lot of new people.  One kid that I'm getting close with is Duc. He is shy but once you get past the first layer he's super fun! We just did a video project in English and he was so crazy!! I'm so blessed to know hi this year : )

Next is Bible reading.  I have gotten so behind, 10days! I tried one day to catch up but only completed two. I have now promised God and myself that I will read a little each night, even if I do not finish the whole section I can not get behind. I just need to remember that God will bless my life the more time I spend with him.  So hopefully I can continue to get to know Him better while sharing the word with others as well as myself. 

Finally is...well actually I don't have a final one so I'll just put up some recent pics : )

An End and A Beginning

The last week of summer was great.  Parties, sleepovers, tagging, and baking was so fun, but now it's all over.  School has officially begun, as of yesterday....  Classes were good, but some not so hot.  I know they'll get better as the year progresses though.  God is so GOOD! I was so worried about my history teacher being a dud, but she actually use to teach higher level history at her old school.  She's fun and informative.  I just want to thank God for opening my eyes to my blessings and how he can work everything out for the good.  THANK YOU! 

Well to document the week in a nutshell: sleepover = good times with old friends.  Katie, Mallori, and I made brownies, home-made pizza (reed's recipe), tagged/post-it noted cars, tried on dresses, and just had a blast.  It was the last friday of the summer and we made it last!

Next was the hang-outs: pool party was a success and I tried some new lemon cake bite things and they are delicious!! especially dipped in Chocolate!! too bad I don't have a picture of that : (

My decorating class did cupcakes this past week and so here are some pictures of my favorites : )

The final class, however, is tomorrow...sad day.  I just baked  my cake tonight and am icing tomorrow! I'm so excited the final project should look wonderful.  I was so blessed to meet all those people and our instructor was the greatest.

On the subject of school, I will be overwhelmed with AP courses and such, so I might not be able to keep the blog updated.  When I have time though, I definately will. 

Taylor, I will get you a letter in the mail by friday, it's been so busy; but I have NOT forgotten!

A Mall Happening

Evening everyone ♫ enjoying a free evening listening to Eldarwen's music lol {I must learn how to get one of those on my blog so everyone may enjoy such wonderful uplifting music!}
To start, Thursday I spent the evening with Stephen eating delicious lemon peppered chicken, veggies, and beans mmmmmm.  We rocked out on Guitar Hero for a couple of songs, my favorite Sweet Emotion.  Then went swimming at 8.  We had just gotten out there and Stephen says "I'll be right back," so I go ahead and get in...it was so creepy!!! Only the pool light was on and their backyard is tiny and it felt just like a movie.  I half-expected someone to jump out and yell RAAAWWWR!!  So I was relieved when he returned : )  As time passed by I looked into his parents room where Denise [step-mom] was watching So You Think You Can Dance. I jumped out and said "Oh no, I completely forgot the finale!!"  Stephen, being the guy he is reluctantly got out so I could watch. What a guy ♥.
 Sad ending to the night, Lauren won the competition...not Kent : ( She was great and everything but Kent was just so PRESH!

Friday, my friend Katie and Kiersten and I celebrated Katie's birthday by having a mall shopping spree!!! We ate at... →

I got a salad, which I have come to realize is quite delicious and not as fattening than that hugeo burrito!

After lunch it was off to the MALL!  We shopped till we dropped...my feet were killing me.

 But the buys were great and I now have a first day of school outfit : ) ↓

Kiersten went home and Katie and I headed to her house for an ending sleep-over.  Cooking pizza, brownies, waffles, watching Disney channel, Hunchback of Notre Dame, magazines, and Nertz {thanks to Taylor}!  It was a blast...except for the sleeping part; didn't get much of that because of a flat air-mattress (that always happens to me by the way, inevitable)

Today however, was all about thankfulness and Faith.  It was the last Sunday school class before all the students moved onto the next grade.  We were all very sad because the teachers were so wonderful, and so real that we all did not want to leave.  God has really transformed me through those people and I thank each of them for showing me how to live a Godly life in this evil world.  As for the Faith, the preacher's son spoke today and it was so moving! He said the facts how they are and told us out front that if we do not have faith we do not trust God; therefore, we are not walking with Him.  Scripture of Joshua 14 and Numbers 14 were used to prove these points.  I thank him as well for giving such a beautiful closing sermon to start the school year and end summer.

Speaking of school, only ONE more week!! AHHHHH I'm so nervous. A lot of praying will be happening in my family for me, my sister, and parents for the next year.  So much stress is brought that we know we can not endure without God's guidance.

Just finished with a delicious lunch of a spicy chicken and spinach sandwich PANINI style! It was great : )

I used my sister's George Foreman Grill.  I love that thing, it works so well with everything. I use it to make practically all my food : P 

Now I'm biding my time until 5:15 when I leave for a Wilton Decorating Class!! Today we're learning how to ice and layer a cake and make pom-pom flowers haha how funny, but they look so presh!  Soon I'll prepare the cake and restrain my self from eating all the icing.

Speaking of baking, The Cupcake-Bliss Tella Bella was fantastic! Mom said it wasn't better than Le Sara but I beg to differ.  The icing was so creamy I wanted more :)

News of yesterday, I am now a registered student of Richland High School...woo. Schedule is great except I have a U.S. History teacher that no one has heard of! NOOOOO...not another newbie.  But I'm praying about it and know the Lord will guide me through the course, and hey maybe she'll be better than the one everyone else has.  It's all in His hands. 

Also, I have just completed my first pair of Pajama pants! Sewn by yours truly :) They're cupcakes and are so cute [picture will come soon].

Cupcakes...Movies

Yesterday was very productive.  Went to lunch with stephen at Cici's and had some AMAZING cinnamon rolls, they are so gooey! I ate like 5... Also tried their bbq pizza.  It wasn't too shabby, definately worth another slice : )

He then went back to band and I headed for the cupcake shops : )  Le Sara was the first to be experienced.  I got a plain vanilla with chocolate icing.  My mother ate it once whe got home and said it was absolutely fabulous! so if you are ever in the Colleyville area stop by...

Next was Cupcake Bliss.  Allll the way down cheek-sparger.  After getting a little lost, I first stopped in Hoola-Hoops, a shop of trinkets and fasion; fasion that is that is too expensive for me.  I quickly glanced around and said "not for me" and headed next door.  Inside it was very quiet and smelled delicious! I ordered a Tella Bella (which I have no idea what was in it...something about hazlenut) We have yet to eat this one, so the verdict will come soon. 

At around 4 Stephen and I went to his house to hang out.  We played the newest version of "Hydro-Thunder" which is where you race boats and all that.  It was pretty fun...lol if he plays for an hour he's already got practically half the game unlocked so it was easy for me to not have to get first since he had that coverd ; )  We fixed fajitas for dinner [delicious!] and then sat down to watch "Escape from Alcatraz"!!  Not as exciting as "The Great Escape," but Clint Eastwood was so young.  I really enjoyed it.  What was interesting was while we were watching it started storming, just like in the movie.  I think God was having a little fun : )!

Bible reading is going steady! Just read Prophecy from Isaiah...man that's a long one, but factual none the less.  Can't wait for Psalms again on wednesday {it's my fav}
